Hours before the launching of the new website for the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA) is launched, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has been highlighting the importance of this institution.

“We established SKIPA several years ago to ensure that investors across the globe understand that the education system in St. Kitts and Nevis produces individuals ready to function as employees, sub-contractors, or partners and that the port of Basseterre is capable of handling the world’s largest ships and that the airport is capable of handling large international aircraft,” said Prime Minister Douglas during Tuesday’s edition of Ask the Prime Minister.

Dr. Douglas told listeners to the programme that local and foreign investors must be assured that the federation’s transportation infrastructure permits the smooth movement of people and materials, and that the telecommunications infrastructure guarantees rapid communication with the rest of the world.

He said investors must also be assured that St. Kitts and Nevis has a solid reputation as a fiscally responsible, well managed state.

“SKIPA, then, is key to our ability to attract foreign investors, on the one hand, and our smoothing and expediting matters for local investors on the other,” he added as he invited listeners to learn more about the agency, in order to get a better idea of how the Government goes about securing investment capital to fuel the country’s continued movement forward.
